Serving some 24,000 students, Huddersfield University prides itself upon its reputation in the academic world. The institution is within the top ten in England for considerations including teaching excellence, and both UK and international student satisfaction, as well as for its estates and facilities.
Mitton has completed a full boiler replacement at the university’s Technology Building, situated at the centre of this urban campus and housing the Student Learning and Leisure Centre.
The installation of new boiler plant to serve heating ad domestic hot water systems was scheduled following removal of the original district heating mains. Alongside this work, the Mitton team has installed new connections for hot and cold water supplies and relocated the direct hot water supply system and the indirect hot water calorifier.
New ventilation has been installed in the plant room to meet current requirements, and the control panel has been modified to allow management of the new boiler.
All works were completed within a tight time frame in order to limit downtime to a minimum.
